Luis and team did a GREAT job reupholstering my chair. The quality of the work is top notch and they were by far the best value in town (and I got in touch with nearly a dozen other places). The final cost included pick up and delivery plus they were willing to go get the leather I purchased separately at S H Frank for no extra charge. My only complaint is that it took several weeks and a lot of follow up on my part to get the job started. Well worth the effort though for such good results in the end.

Let me tell you about a very sad new couch owner that was absolutely saved by Luis and 17th Street Upholstery.
I just bought a new place, and was extremely excited to get a new, very expensive, very custom couch delivered. Much to my chagrin, despite lots of measurements ahead of time, the couch absolutely would not fit up the stairwell into the condo. It go so, so close, but we couldn't make that last corner. The couch maker would not refund it, and I was looking at a great big, very expensive debacle, not to mention weeks more without a couch. On a whim, I tried Luis, who came straight to my place for an in-person consult. I was desperate, and desperate times call for desperate measures.
Luis took one look at my couch and knew that there was nothing he could do there, but he immediately came up with a plan that seemed insane. He would take the couch back to his shop, de-upholster it, cut it in half (yes really), bring it back, reassemble it in the living room, and re-upholster it in the living room. Not having any other options, I said ok.
Let me tell you, this guy is a pro. Within two days he called to tell me it was ready for delivery/reconstruction, and a day after that he literally brought his whole shop to my living room to do the work. I'm sitting on the couch now, and every single person I tell this story to absolutely cannot believe that this couch had ever been torn apart, chopped in half, and put back together. The craftsmanship was superb, and Luis paid so much attention to the details. He hand-sewed corners to repair them. The couch looks new still, and Luis did all of this work for a price that I honestly couldn't believe. The work was flawless, and the price was amazing. I cannot recommend Luis enough.

I have three cats. They love to scratch. They've shredded my favorite armchair and two cat trees. The armchair was worth salvaging, but reupholstering the cat trees? Yes, it's cheaper to just buy new cat trees online and discard the shredded ones. But that would be environmentally wasteful. Luis helped me choose new fabric for the armchair that has tighter weave than the previous damask with deep grooves that my cats loved to claw. For the cat trees, I didn't want to spend much more than the cost of buying new cat trees, so Luis let me choose from his selection of remnants.
One week later, Luis called to say the work was done (a week ahead of schedule). I am very happy with the results. So are my cats. Luis was great to work with. He appreciated my business and was communicative throughout the process.
